I took this image of the Islamic Center of Columbia the day after President Trump announced the travel ban and shared it on Vox's social media accounts with the simple caption "🌼 ☀️ #OneColumbia" in one day, across three platforms it reach over 140,000 people and garnered over 2,000 actions on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

When 5-year-old Bryson Pruitt-Smith was diagnosed with cancer in October 2014, people on social media rallied around his family to offer emotional, financial and spiritual support. This feature focused on the story of a local family creating connections and producing support from around the world on social media due to illness. As a designer, I chose to focus on the story of Bryson and his mother, Lily, by presenting as if the reader were online and not detracting from the personal story.

In our second competition of the semester, we were asked to create the cover and feature for Vox's Spring Preview. I chose to hand draw a mirror, drawing on the idea of "Mirror, mirror on the wall" to tell Columbians what they can do this spring. This issue is a compilation of events that will occur throughout Columbia from January to May. My design was chosen out of nine designers to be published.
